Some history about the castle : The town of Froidthier used to be prosperous thanks to its drapery fabric ran by the family Snoeck. It employed many workers. A violent fire burst in the 1888 and the fabric burned to the ground; the workers massively left to find work in the area or city of Verviers. The Castle of Froidthier used to be a farm for several decades, up to the early 20th century. During the 2 world wars, the town people used to hide in its caves to escape the bombings. It was then owned by a private person who rented it out to families. It has been renovated in 2009 and transformed in a holiday house.
